Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO)

Conversion rate optimization (CRO) is the systematic practice of increasing the share of visitors who take a desired action — sign up, start a trial, upgrade — without necessarily increasing traffic. Instead of buying more visitors, you get more value from the ones you already have by improving copy, layout, pricing presentation, form friction, page speed, and calls to action. For SaaS builders it's often cheaper than acquisition: a lift from a 2% to a 3% signup rate is a 50% increase in signups from the same spend. Why it matters: compounding small conversion gains across the funnel multiplies revenue. Practical note: CRO is a research-then-test loop, not guesswork — study where users drop off (analytics, session recordings, surveys), form a hypothesis, then run a controlled A/B test with enough traffic to reach significance. Change one meaningful thing at a time, and beware declaring winners before the sample is large enough.
